Logansport Couple Grow Their Way To Excellence At Louisiana Farm Bureau Convention

Even though they are in their early 30’s, Tom and Molly Usrey of Logansport are in an old-fashioned field.  

They’re “truck farmers,” growing tomatoes, squash, peppers and other market produce at their three  3.5-acre farm in DeSoto Parish. They’re registered Boer goat breeders, known for its meat production and 4-H show popularity.

Hard work, business skills earn Grant Parish couple Farm Bureau achievement award

Ryan and Danielle Yerby have faced a flood of challenges with their 1,000-acre farm near Colfax in Grant Parish, but they continue to thrive. Because of both their diligence and business skills, they were named winners of the Young Farmers and Ranchers Achievement Award during the 94th annual meeting of the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation in New Orleans June 23-26.

Brand-New Truck, John Deere ‘Gator’ and More Await YF&R Winners

A brand-new Chevy or GMC vehicle and a John Deere Gator utility vehicle are among the many prizes that await the winners of this year’s Young Farmers and Ranchers contest at the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation Convention in New Orleans.

The organization will name its Young Farmers and Ranchers contest winners Thursday, June 23 at the Organizational Awards program beginning at 5:30 p.m.  The Achievement Award, Discussion Meet and Excellence in Agriculture winners will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the American Farm Bureau Convention in Phoenix, Arizona, January 8-11, 2017.
