Seeking Your Vote

June 28, 2019

Last week, more than 1,000 farmers and ranchers and their families traveled to the New Orleans Marriott for the 97th Annual @Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation Convention. With so many people in one place, especially when those people are energized voters like farmers and ranchers, you know those seeking office are going to come here, too. That's one of the reasons why Governor John Bel Edwards, who is seeking reelection, and Congressman Ralph Abraham, who wants Edwards' job, came to speak to members of the Louisiana Farm Bureau. #lfbf19

Small Farm, Big City

June 28, 2019

The New Orleans Marriott is not the only place you can find farmers in the Crescent City. Every week, local farmers bring the bounty of the farm into the city through pop up farmers markets. TWILA’s Karl Wiggers shows us how these small farmers are building big connections with their consumers in the city.

From Bees to Beer

June 28, 2019

This week, we're at the place where small farms meet the big city at Miel Brewery & Taproom. This #microbrewery is just as dependent upon agriculture as any other. And as TWILA’s Avery Davidson shows us, they depend heavily upon some of the smallest workers in the food business. #beer

Cypress Planting

New Orleans is close to the Gulf of Mexico, and it's actually a lot closer than you might think. This week, TWILA’s Neil Melancon takes us on an airboat to see what some are doing to keep those gulf waters out of the Crescent City.

Putting Ag on the Map

June 28, 2019

The Louisiana Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom workshop was a big hit during the 97th Annual LFBF Convention. This year, they unveiled a new digital commodity map to equip teachers to teach the next generation about agriculture. Vermilion Parish ag teacher Jamie Lee says this new resource will be a huge help with teachers to accomplish that mission.

Putting Ag on the Map

June 28, 2019

The 97th Louisiana Farm Bureau Convention is a time to recognize the accomplishments of the state's farmers, ranchers, and parish farm bureaus that help promote agriculture across Louisiana. TWILA's Kristen Oaks & Avery Davidson tell us about all the big winners from this year's convention. #lfbf19

Louisiana Bound

June 28, 2019

Water was on the minds of many during convention -- too much of it, not enough of it and what to do about water is a constant topic of discussion. For farmers, water is a life and death issue. But, it also brings us together in a special way. We'd like to close the show out with a video we showed during convention that illustrates the impact of water in Louisiana, one drop at a time. #lfbf19
