Louisiana Farm Bureau’s Youth Contests offer many opportunities for the young people of Farm Bureau to show their talents, share their insights and win recognition, as well as cash prizes. Whether it is our Junior and Senior Talent Contests, oratory Talk Meet Contest or our glittering Louisiana Farm Bureau Queen’s Contest, there is something for every young person at Farm Bureau—including you!

For the Junior and Senior Talent Contests, young stars ages 6-19 take to the stage and wow the crowd—with singing, dancing and everything in-between—while trying to impress the judges and earn top prizes. Show us what you’ve got this convention!

Who May Compete:

  1. Any member of a Farm Bureau family between ages of 6 & 19 by June 26.

  2. State Junior Division winners cannot compete again until they are in the Senior Division. State Senior Division winners may not compete again.

  3. Parish winners may enter the state contest again if selected by his/her parish. 

  4. All group contestants must be in the same age category.

  5. No professional act is eligible. Acts must be certified by the parish president and/or contest chair as amateur to participate. We define professional as having received fees for talent performances.

Judging:

Contestants are judged on the following:

  • quality of act (40%)

  • stage presence (35%)

  • style (25%)

Rules & Regulations:

  1. Parish Farm Bureaus must submit contestant entry forms to the state office by May 1.

  2. Parish Farm Bureaus will provide a chaperone for contestants and submit his/her name(s) to the contest chair with the contestant’s entry.

  3. Parish Farm Bureaus are responsible for obtaining room reservations for contestants and chaperones.

  4. Acts must be performed as submitted on the entry form. No entry will be accepted unless completed using the JotForm online application.

  5. There are two divisions: Junior (6-13 yrs.) and Senior (14-19 yrs.).

  6. Each parish Farm Bureau may enter only one act in the state contest; either Junior or Senior, not both.

  7. Acts may have a maximum of four (4) people.

  8. Contestants must bring their own equipment, props, etc. and be able to carry them on stage in one trip. No assistance will be provided. A piano, microphones and sound system will be provided. NO AMPS ALLOWED. Contestants using music must e-mail the file to megang@lfbf.org by May 1. (Music files must be files found on Spotify or a .mp3 or .mp4 file.) 

    Contestants: Please bring a flash drive with the music file to convention for back-up purposes. LFBF will not have mixing equipment available. All contestants will use hand-held or stand microphones and sound system provided.

  9. Acts must be three-and-a-half minutes (3 minutes, 30 seconds)! Longer acts will be disqualified. All acts will be timed.

  10. Contestants are limited to two (2) practices on stage. 

  11. Any entertainment in good taste is suitable. This includes vocals, instrumentals, folk dance, novelties, impersonations, etc. Modest dress in costume required. 

  12. Stage dimensions: 24 ft. deep, 36 ft. wide, 32 ft. tall.

Schedule:

Thursday, June 26

  • 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. — Registration 

Friday, June 27

  • 8:30 a.m. — Junior Talent Rehearsal 

  • 10 a.m. — Senior Talent Rehearsal 

  • 5:30 p.m. — Contest

Junior and Senior winners will perform during the Queen’s Contest Saturday night.

Awards:

Parish: An expenses-paid trip for contestant(s) and chaperone to attend the convention, courtesy of parish Farm Bureau, and additional awards as determined by each parish.

State:

  • First Place — $250 gift

  • Second Place — $150 gift

  • Third Place — $100 gift

KEEP IN MIND BEFORE YOU APPLY:

  • All incomplete contest applications will be returned to the parish and may result in delayed delivery of instruction to participants.

  • Contestants will not be allowed to have cell phones during any portion of their contest. Louisiana Farm Bureau is not responsible for loss of personal property.

  • Due to uncontrollable circumstances, all arrangements described for the 2025 Youth Contests may be interrupted, delayed, restricted, go virtual, hybrid, and/or be canceled.
