NEW ORLEANS—Philip and Chelsie Domingues of Vermillion Parish came full circle at the Louisiana Farm Bureau Centennial Convention here on Thursday. The sugarcane, cattle and soybean farmers near Erath, La. have been named the state’s top young farmers during the organization’s annual awards event. This was the first time they were finalists in the Young Farmers and Ranchers Achievement Award competition and were clearly emotional after winning the competition.

This year, he’s got something new on the farm—the 2021 Young Farmer and Rancher Achievement Award. The award was presented during the Louisiana Farm Bureau Annual Convention, held partly in person and online for the second year in a row.

Baton Rouge, La.—The 2020 Louisiana Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Achievement Award winner is Phillip Tomlinson of East Carroll Parish. This is the top award presented annually to a Louisiana farmer or rancher 35 or younger who’s main income is from production agriculture and shows innovation and financial stability on their operation.

Eleven years later, Adam and his wife Megan have not only become first-generation farmers, they were named Louisiana’s best young farmers at the 97th Annual Convention of the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation.

In the lush pastures and rolling hills of Kent farms, cows happily graze where the green grass grows. Russell and Amelia Kent have grown more than cattle here, though. In their fields in the Tangipahoa and Feliciana Parishes, they've raised a business which has earned them the 2017 Young Farmer and Rancher Achievement Award during the 95th Annual Convention of the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation.

Ryan and Danielle Yerby have faced a flood of challenges with their 1,000-acre farm near Colfax in Grant Parish, but they continue to thrive. Because of both their diligence and business skills, they were named winners of the Young Farmers and Ranchers Achievement Award during the 94th annual meeting of the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation in New Orleans June 23-26.
